AMEB piano practice between lessons
Use this one-page plan when a student needs short, focused support with theory, rhythm, aural work and general knowledge between piano lessons.
What to practise first
Note values and rests
Short rhythm-value questions before written work becomes a guessing exercise.
Aural listening
Higher/lower pitch, steady beat and simple listening words for five minutes at a time.
Score questions
Key, time signature, terms, signs and form from the student’s own piece.
A simple week
- Day 1Try the free Grade 1 note-values practice for 10 minutes.
- Day 2Tap the beat while playing or listening to one current piece.
- Day 3Answer one score question: key, time signature, sign, term or form.
- Day 4Do one short aural task: higher/lower, smooth/detached or loud/soft.
- Day 5Repeat the weakest topic and write one question for the next lesson.
